NPA ACT has received a $5000 environment grant from the ACT Government to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the gazettal of Namadgi National Park on 3 October.

The government announced over $350,000 in grants to 23 community-led projects as part of the 2024 round of the ACT Environment Grants, in celebration of World Environment Day on 5 June.

The grants are to support local community projects to protect, conserve and enhance the ACT’s environment and biodiversity, and improve the capacity of volunteer groups.

NPA will use the grant to produce a special issue of its quarterly NPA Bulletin in September to mark the gazettal of Namadgi on 3 October 1984 and to organise an Indigenous-themed walk led by Kamilaroi man Aaron Chatfield.

NPA is also planning several other events for the occasion including a barbecue and exhibition at Namadgi Visitor Centre.
