Protection for ACT dingoes

Dingoes in the ACT are to be recognised as a distinct species in need of protection following the ACT Government’s decision to remove the ‘wild dog/dingoes’ terminology from the Territory’s pest animal declaration.

The change will mean dingoes are protected as a native animal under the Nature Conservation Act.

DNA research found a population of up to 400 pure dingoes in Namadgi national park.
