Complaint about Tidbinbilla Commercial Tours

24-January-2011

In July 2010 Christine made a complaint as an individual about these commercial tours to the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment saying in part "I would like to make a formal complaint about Conservation Volunteers Australia advertising commercial tours at a cost of $540 pp in Tidbinbilla starting in September 2010. I believe these tours violate the current Tidbinbilla management plan and thus the Planning and Development Act by charging people for “special access through locked gates”, by permitting non-management vehicles to use closed roads (a drive up Camel Back Road is a feature of the tour) and by permitting commercial use of 'Nil Desperandum' homestead."
